About Your Foot, My Foot Foundation
Your Foot, My Foot (YFMF) began as an idea inspired by those who find ways to make something out of nothing. Founder Maya Neal first envisioned the foundation after competing in the 2016 African Championships in Durban, South Africa, where she noticed world-class athletes performing without adequate equipment or footwear. Something had to be done.
Maya has represented Liberia on the world stage in track and field and has since gone on to play professional soccer overseas. From grassroots football to a professional career, she has witnessed firsthand the opportunities the game can create—and also recognized how many young people lack access to those same opportunities.
In 2017, Maya began collecting and repurposing new and gently used track spikes and soccer cleats, donating them to individuals and organizations in need. What started as a simple effort to bridge the equipment gap has since evolved into a mission that provides sporting infrastructure, equipment, and skills clinics for youth in marginalized communities.
At YFMF, we believe that equitable access and opportunity at the grassroots level empower young people to realize their full potential—both on and off the pitch.
This journey continues to be fueled by the generosity and shared vision of individuals and organizations who believe in the power of community, collaboration, and sport.
We move together.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create equitable access and opportunity in football for marginalized youth.
Grassroots football (soccer) continues to face a lack of diversity and inclusivity due to the lack of safe playing spaces and cost of equipment. The solution to overcoming these barriers and providing greater opportunity for youth in underserved communities lies in the hands of those willing and able to level the playing field.
